1893 James B Eads Five Lunar Outposts are started by Great Britain, France, Russia, Prussia and The Triple Empire.
Existence of extensive Lunar mining and other alien activities on Earth’s Moon are discovered. This leads to a Moonrush as prospectors seek to mine the remaining rare ores found on Luna. Other explorers begin to map the thousands of miles of alien tunnels and subsurface cities. Archeologists search for information about the race that lived on the Moon and attempt to uncover the amazing technologies that allowed such extensive operations on Earth’s lifeless companion. Even though it is obvious that Luna has not hosted life for thousands of years it is without a doubt that Mankind is not alone in the solar system, let alone in the Universe.
James Prescott Joule Race to Mars Begins. Fifteen vessels are started in orbital yards.
Alexandr Mozhaiskii Aerolyth Fireboat Philadelphia World’s Fair (this was to be the last World’s fair in the future all would bear the title Worlds’ Fair)
Duke of Cambridge Vessels begin leaving Earth Orbit late in year destined for Mars. The United Kingdom, France, the Triple Empire, Prussia, Russia and the United States all have at least one vessel in the contest. A variety of scientific organizations, as well as national governments and commercial interests have put up over a total of 100,000 pounds sterling in a variety of prizes.
Geosynchronous Orbital Space Stations Royal Albert first effective interplanetary vessel leaves Earth orbit and arrives in Martian orbit in 54 days. Vessel using secret Ewing and Stewart Drive leaves the Ascension High-Port well after last of the original “Famous Fourteen” and quickly outstrips all of them. It makes a near approach to the silent and crippled French vessel La Adventure and is able to ascertain that no survivors were possible of the explosion that damaged the vessel when she completed her turn around and restarted her rocket engines. Due to her massive construction Royal Albert is able to establish a small orbital station above the Martian Equator and quickly commence observations of the surface.
The first landing on Mars is conducted on earth date June 18th, 1877. Royal Albert carried four de-orbiting landers which together could carry the parts to construct a pair of rockets capable of lifting the exploration party from the Martian surface back to the orbiting station.
The Royal Albert landing party makes contact with Zuktesazri, very human looking civilized inhabitants of Mars. Efforts to communicate with them proceed quickly as the so called Men of Mars are highly intelligent and seem capable of learning English very rapidly. Although they are friendly they are also secretive and closed off from their long lost cousins, restricting the earthlings to a series of rapidly isolated cantonments or legations.
